Unreality check.....

The Sheriff just sent a unit out to the Trampa Canyon blockade specifically to stop us from doing a relief supply run for the Jamesburg folk. Everything was cleared with CalFire, CHP, the Cachagua Fire guys.

As we approached the checkpoint, the deputy flagged us down: "Are you Springs or Curtis?"

Ross Curtis was the one arrested for setting a backfire to save his house in Big Sur.....and is apparently an arsonist in the eyes of the Sheriff.

We have made the list

I really thought I had seen the most stupid bureaucratic incompetence and finagling......

I guess there is always room for growth......even in stupidity.

Hey Mikey! That is beyond belief but so very typical of our wonderful Sheriff. I am not sure it is possible but you are always welcome to try a run behind the winery up to Hennicksons and down the dozer line...

Let me know if I can help in any way and thanks for everything you do...

You MUST be kidding us, right?!

I can't believe this sort of treatment of the victims of the fires. DDoesn't that sheriff and his deputy's have a clue?

BTW... my brother is a sheriff dept up in Contra Costa & has NEVER heard of this kind of treatment of the people and their properties durring 'Mandatory Evictions'. Once you sign the waiver, you ought to be able to move about in th closed areas, just don't expect them to help you out if you need it.

This has gotten power crazy!

Yes, that's the same sheriff who looked me in the face at the meeting on Sunday and said he was so sorry that his people did not let my husband come and get me during the evacuation. He was was sorry and this should have never happened. A political animal of the worst kind. Spread the word, people. Mike, keep up the good work.

I have invited representatives of the Unified Command to come behind the evacuation line and meet with residents to understand their issues, concerns, and why they are here.

It seemed like a no-brainer that they would want to have communications with folks if they really thought they were in danger.

Yesterday, they seemed willing. Today, they changed their mind. I am still working this, but we need assurances that we can return to our homes after the meeting. So far, this has not been granted.

In Big Sur, they had a "green card" pass system. But I spoke with a few folks today that said they don't want to do this for us.

Thanks for your efforts to get supplies out even if they were stopped!

I can't believe that he did that, or should I say, I can because he is indeed what you called him in your 4th of July article, and he undoubtedly sent that officer named in the same article to do his dirty work. While I don't know him, I DO know his wife...anyway, that was bad enough, but I heard on the news today that some of his people found a large....garden out on Robinson Canyon Road.

I agree with Z about not publishing plans. This was a very integral part of moving "behind the lines" with food/supplies in Big Sur. There were certain people deemed free to move. Do you have anyone like that?
Our BS hotline was sponsored by the Fire Brigade giving accurate info to all calling in. This allowed a place to funnel information AND quell rumors.
I hope the Sheriff is taken to task when this is done.

Hang in there!

John,
Green Cards were issued as "passes" to reenter but I don't believe this was during the Mandatory evac.
Have you tried Sam Farr?

Make some noise Cachagua!!!

We like the sheriff stopping people like Todd Springs from going to evacuated houses. He is the biggest thief in Cachagua, ask his own father. If you are delivering supplies to people, please be careful choosing who does the deliveries.

Thanks,
Evacuated

I say good for Toddy, ross, Mike and everyone else trying to help. The sheriffs, etc are trying to do the "safe" thing, but being stuck in your home running out of food and supplies is not eactlysafe. The people of my hometown make me proud.

Mike, Tod and the rest of the crew, Thank you. Great job! I think that the "Officials" running the road closures need to read "The Death Of Common Sense" by Philip Howard. A quick note to evacuated, PISS OFF! If you are going to slander someone have the intestinal fortitude to post your name. Jackass!

Well, if you're wanting to stay in your home, you should of gone to Costco and not be begging for help now. And to Murray, whoever the hell you are, you must not know Todd. And hell no to the name or he'll know we aren't in our house. Dumb Ass! If your hungry leave your house, if your dog needs food bbq him. Quit with the bull shit and let the fire fighters and honest people save our homes from being destroyed. The last thing they need is to be concerned about saving people. That are too stupid to leave.

Hey evacuated! We are NOT, I repeat NOT stopping the firefighters. We have no beef with them at all. Not all of us can afford to go to Costco and your comment about the dog is unwarranted. I hope PETA finds out who you are for that one. I'm sorry you bought into the gov't hype of "get out or you will die." Not all of us are sheep. You might try to think for yourself instead of believing everything the gov't tells you.

Felicia, I don't think you aren't behind the fire fighters. I'm just saying, if you stayed, you shouldn't need help. If you can take care of yourself good. If not, you shouldn't be there. The fire fighters have enough on their plate without worrying about your wellfare. Nothing bad about those who stay....just you shouldn't then need help.

Evacuated, I'm not asking for help at all. I stayed because I can take care of myself. Most of us who live in the rural environs can do just fine on our own EXCEPT we are not being allowed to do so. The last time I was on the road was 7/10 and the roadblock at Sleepy Hollow was NOT manned and the tourists were ignoring it enmasse! Maybe they're the ones who are interfering, I know I didn't enjoy being behind the one driving all of 25mph all over the road, pointing and gawking at the smoke, trucks, etc. AND wouldn't pull over for the fire trucks. I did and watched the idiot in the mazda miata with the out of state plates lead the parade. They probably should have red-lighted him but it wasn't a code 3 situation. BTW, I'm an EMT so don't tell me about how I'm not supporting the firefighters and their efforts.

Blogger Evacuated said...

Good for you being an EMT and your efforts. The beginning of this message was to keep Todd Springs out of my house while I'm not there. No beef with you or anyone else trying to help legitimately. Good luck to you and your home as well as all of the rest of us. No need for fueding or looting...

Hey Evacuated...if you do indeed live in that neighborhood, you're a square peg in a round hole, and you don't have the cojones to stay behind to care for what is yours, and to help those who can't afford to leave, choose not to leave, or whose health prevents them from leaving. While I don't live there myself, I will say this...the sense of community exemplified by the majority of posters, and the fact that I can sense that the truth is being spoken here, makes me wish that I did.

Hey Misty fog. Keep your nose out of our business if you're not from our Road. My family has been here since 1970. We have children to think about instead of property. When my childrens lives are in harms way, I protect them. No one is getting our point in the beginning of just keeping Todd out of our houses. Hello. I could stay. I just don't have a pot farm to protect, just my family. Shut the fuck up you retards. Poor that on your dooby and smoke it.

Don't flaunt your ignorance by assuming that just because I, or anyone else, speaks in a language other than English, that they are illegal. I think you just like stirring things up, so I'm not going to respond to you any more.

Wow! Anger management is an option. We are all stressed, let's find a solution to the problem instead of beating each other up. we are all stressed and just want to get back to our lives. Can we find a way to get the "Powers to be" to listen first? When this is done we can deal with personal issues.. Same boat folks, not enough paddles.
