Meal of the Year?

The Mauro Colagreco Dinners
Saturday, April 19 and Sunday, April 20
Please join us for two special dinners with guest chef Mauro Colagreco of the Michelin star restaurant Mirazur, located in a terraced cliff-top lemon grove on the beautiful Côte d’Azur where the French Riviera meets the Italian coast. Mirazur is recognized as the most notable new restaurant of 2007 by Gault-Millau, the influential French restaurant guide. Join David Kinch and Mauro Colagreco as the
Mediterranean Coast meets the California Coast for one of the most inspired culinary events. The eight-course Colagreco Dinners are $195 per person, exclusive of wine, tax, and gratuity. Two sommelier-selected wine pairings will be available. Open seating begins at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, and 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.

I was gonna post this.....and it turns out David is all sold out. So......get in line for the next one. Take it from me: Manresa is the best way to kill a $500 bill. Well, actually a six or seven hundred dollar bill for two....but think of it in Euros. Sort of cheap.

David Kinch is a nutball....and possessed of the food version of perfect pitch. He has the kind of rat-hole mind that can keep up with all the random changes in all the restaurants in Europe and here......while running his own highly complex palace of cuisine.

All of the truly great food is now in Spain.....with the exception of Mauro Colagreco, who is barely in France, on the Italian border.

The good news I was going to impart is that there is a nice hotel a few blocks away that caters to Manresa folk: The Los Gatos Lodge. A highly negotiable $120 gets you a decent room. Ask for John, and it is a $100 room.

Though the Mauro dinners are sold out....it is worth considering any more of David's special dinners. His new guy is a Danish chef.....that is right, a Danish chef.

I am still waiting for an Irish guy.
